The To Whom Snapback

Why start with a Snapback?

There are a lot of hats to choose from and you can start with whatever best aligns with your own interests. For us, it was starting with an item that suited our own habits & hobbies.

For this reason, we decided to design and produce our first Two Whom snapback hats in the Fall of 2021. Compared to other options like dad hats, bucket hats, and beanies, we felt that the snapback caps represented sports culture that we’re heavily influenced by.

What is a snapback hat?

The modern-day baseball cap was first introduced in the 1880s. It was designed to protect players from the sun and keep their heads cool. But as time went on, the baseball hats primary feature would go from sun protection to becoming a fashion statement.

The first snapback hats would make their debut in the 1930s, and would continue to grow in popularity. A couple of decades later, we would see New Era transform the then common 8-panel hat into a 6-panel hat. And thus the modern snapback was born.

Today’s snapback hats can be quickly identified by the flat bill. You’re also likely to see embroidered designs on the front and sides, allowing brands, teams, and organizations to share their own creative logos and designs.

Where We Began

Our first step into the snapback pace was intended to pay homage to the sports nature, as well as the hip-hop culture that often displays a particular style of bravado and confidence that we are so fond of. Our first snapback cap features a navy canvas with our bold “TW” that is featured on all of our Two Whom Snapbacks. This “TW” identifier was included in embroidery and was accompanied by our Two Whom All-Star emblem.

Two Whom All-Star

This emblem in inspired by the beloved sport of basketball, and particularly the NBA-style logos that are produced for their All-Star players every year. The Two Whom crew are fans of the sport, but also of the unique style of All-Star designs that serialize the NBA event each year.

Because of our love for the league, we created our own recognition for the All-Stars of Two Whom.

A Sports Tribute

We started with a basketball reference to the All-Star game, but we weren’t done with sports. Our next snapback release was for the ‘World Series of Winning’. This snapback is a nod to the 2001 MLB World Series logo. After acknowledging how important baseball is to this brand, it only felt right.

We released the design in three separate colors. The first was our Navy & Red Two Whom Snapback. This hat featured a navy canvas with a flat brim in red and the “TW” embroidered in white. On the underside of the brim, the words ‘Two Whom The Rules Don’t Apply”. This underbrim script is meant to be a reminder that we define our own set of rules.

Alongisde this offering, we also released an option in Maroon that would have the same “TW” in white.  It’s flat bill was instead created with a green underside and the script in white. Both of these are more traditional color combinations. However, we wanted to push for a bit more “Outside the box” inspiration for our last World Series snapback.

Our final “World Series of Winning” cap came with a White canvas and Black brim. It would take a step away from others by hosting the front embroidery in a bold Gold stitching.

The ’98 Special

The final hat in our first launch of snapbacks is the ’98 Special Snapback. Inspired by Superbowl 32, taking place in 1998, this flat bill cap has a design unique to it as well.

We released an all Red option along with a Black offering that is highlighted by its bold “TW” in Gold. Both of these turned out to be popular choices, as they were designed to accent out clothing releases such as the Championship Varsity Letterman and our ’98 Special To Whom Hoodie.
